To shoot the mirror sequence I used 2 Mitchell 'Elephant Ears' cameras - one composed as you see it in the final and the other exactly positioned what would be the other side of the mirror (this would be used for the reflection in the composite). I had a laser beam scanning in the vertical position that represented the surface of the mirror (this was to give me the exact plane of the mirror surface the devil would move through). This reference was used to hand rotoscope out the unseen parts that would be behind the mirror surface on both pieces of film that I was shot. The devil had two blue screens in the background (one for each camera) so the standard matte process could be used for the 'outside of mirror' body edges. That is why you can see the back of the devil's head as he emerges. Rashid did all of the work of rotoscoping and his patience was much appreciated.
