Some of these sculptures go back more than 25 years and I particularly enjoyed working in Yew with it's rich red interior. In Italy I discovered Olive and carved quite a few hands while trying to exploit the satin quality of it's grain. Lime wood is the easiest and is rather bland but very fine grain and lends itself to a lot of detailing.

Recently I've been carving different limestones and have just started on a piece of beautiful Lincolnshire stone with it's buff coloured hues.

My television cabinet (carved in pine) has recently been relegated to a bookshelf!
